Stahl Post 30 - 17, Post 10 Generals - 4: Stahl Post 30 got back in the win column with a slugfest against Post 10. L. Funderbuck homered for Stahl, D. Parker tripled, and C. Bradford, Don May, Derrick May (Jr.), L. Funderbuck, D. Lenoir(2) doubled for Post 30. Funderbuck also got the win.
Post 25 Middletown 4, Fox Post 2 - 3: Fox Post lead the Firehawks by 2 runs going into the bottom of the 7th on the strength of the pitching of O'Shea, but the Firehawks scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win the game.
Led by a lead off double by Steve Kossek and the winning single by Zack Blades who drove in the tying and winning run. Fox Post was lead by Penniiston who went 2 for 4 and O'Shea who went 2 for 4. Winning Pitcher Casey Parks in relief. Losing Pitcher O'Shea.
DE Post 1 - 15, Delvets Post 1 - 7: Post 1 took advantage of 7 Delvets errors in the first 3 innings scoring 13 times and never looking back. Post 1 was led offensively by Casanova 2 hits and 4 runs scored, Cooney 2 hits 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's, Beran 1-1 with a double and 3 runs scored, and Ciccoli 2 hits and an RBI. Delvets was led by Davis Jones 2-2, Jon Harris 2 hits including a double, Spencer Jones with a double and Shane Linkorst with 2 hits.
Post 6 Patriots - 8, Post 28 Warriors - 1: The Post 6 Patriots got their bats on track Thursday night, as they took advantage of 4 hits, 5 walks and 4 Post 28 errors to beat the Warriors 8-1 in a game at Seaford.
Eric Willey, Eric Wharton and Nick Amodei all doubled for Post 6. Amodei's double in the 6th inning cleared the bases. Cole Schaffner, Matt King and Nick Cooper each had an RBI. Nick Marsch had Post 28's only score - he also pitched 6 innings of relief and struck out 5.
Durney Post 27 - 9, R.C. Dupont 18 - 0: (susp 7) Durney scored 3 runs in the top half of the seventh inning before darkness stopped the game. Zach Rumford pitched a 2 hit, six inning shutout giving RC DuPont its first loss. Adam Szczerba lead the offense going 3 for 4 at the plate and scoring 3 runs. Evan Mitchell went 2 for 2 with a rbi triple and scored twice. Jonathan Travaras added 2 hits and Jesse Hobbs added a double. Game will be completed next time the 2 teams meet.
Tuesday June 5th:
Delaware Post 1 - 7, Stahl Post 30 - 5: Delaware Post 1 used 4 pitchers to hold off Stahl Post for their first win of the season. Post 1 took advantage of doubles in the second inning by Chinnery, Galati and Beran to jump out to a 7 - 1 lead but Stahl worked their way back with 4 hits in the third to get within three. Stahl was down by two with bases loaded in the 6th but Post 1's Pete Grasso was able to pitch out of the jam. Zach Figlioli went 2-3 for Post 1 and Devonte Parker batted 2-3 for Stahl.
Post 25 Middletown - 7, Post 28 Warriors - 4: Fabian McCray led Post 28 with a solid pitching performance. Post 25 was led by starting pitcher Jake Bertelson and a solid hitting performance from Jim Scully. In a tightly contested battle Post 25's bullpen held off the hard charging Warriors. Jim Scully homered for Post 25, Armando Estrada tripled. Post 28's batting led by Murray who tripled and Marsch, Bennett, McCray with doubles.
R.C. DuPont Post 18 - 9, Delvets Post 1 - 3: Jack Donnelly pitched a strong 5 2/3 innings for the win while Chuck Brooks came in to finish off the win for RC. Jon Harris pitched a complete game for Delvets with 5 K's. Offensively RC was led by Billy Phillips 2 runs, Beau Owens 2-2 , 2 runs, and 1 RBI, Chuck Brooks 3-4 with a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's , Greg Rostick 2-3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI's, and 1 run, and Dan Klusman with a double. Delvets was led by Jon Harris 3-4 and 2 runs, Sean Deely 2-4, and Timmy Parks 2-2 with 2 Doubles, and 2 RBI's.
Post 10 Generals - 5, Durney Post 27 - 1: Coburn and DeAscanis both doubled for the Generals. Generals Junior Bautista (1-0) pitched 5 1/3 innings of great baseball and struck out 3. Junior Bautista gets first win, Grant Lamberton gets save for Generals.
Post 3 Milford - 12, Post 6 Patriots - 0: Post 3's C.J. Baker pitched a 5 inning shutout, struck out 9 and hit a 2 run home run as Post 3 Milford rolled over the Post 6 Patriots 12-0 in Milford Tuesday.
Cory McGinniss doubled for Post 3 and drove in 3 runs, Cody Lahman also homered and drove in 2 and scored 3 more runs in the game.
R.C. DuPont - 12, Fox Post 2 - 2: Matt Shakelford had 6 K's and gave up two runs in pitching RC DuPont to the win over Fox Post. For Fox Post Dan Riecks, 2 for3 and Tyler Cullen, 2 for 3 with a double and 2 rbis.. Leading the way for RC was Jake Pellegrino 4 for 4, 3 rbis, Beau Owens 3 for 4, double, 3 runs scored and Jake Donnelly 2 for3.
Middletown Post 25 - 16, Delvets Post 1 - 5: Post 25's Kyle Spotts gave up 5 runs in the first 3 innings and Stan Zulkowski pitched 2 scoreless innings striking our 4 to preserve the win for Kyle Spotts. Connor Stevens went 2 for 2 , Stan Zulkowski went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Delvets Fullerton went 2 for 2. winning Pitcher Spotts Losing Pitcher Sheehan
Durney Post 27 - 18, Post 28 Warriors - 17: Durney came from behind in seventh inning when 2 runs scored on a Jake Bartlett Fielders Choice and a error. Matt Trincia got the win in relief.
Adam Szczerba went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and Tyler Hill went 3 for 5 with a double and triple. Post 28 Marsch had 3 hits including 2 doubles.
June 2nd - Opening Weekend Results:
Durney Post 27 - 5, Post 25 Middletown - 1: Durney's Zack Rumford pitched 6 1/3 innings of no hit ball before Middletown's Steve Kosseck singled to left field. Zack struck out 13 while only walking 1. Lou Costanzo went 3 for 4 with 2 rbi's. Adam Szczerba went 2 for 3 scoring 2 runs. Zack Rumford added a RBI triple in first inning. Devin Filliban added 2 hits.
R.C. Dupont takes two in Seaford:
Game 1 - R.C. Dupont Post 18 - 3, Sussex West Post 6 Patriots - 1: Post 6 allowed an unearned run in the top of the 7th when Dan Rostick led off the inning with a double, then scored on an infield error as Dan Klusman reached base. Post 6 tied the game in the bottom of the 7th, as C.J. Pleseants singled home Jordan Stanley for the Patriots only run.
In the top of the 8th, Joe Klusman singled in Kyle Nesmith with the go ahead run and Jack Donnelly doubled in 2 insurance runs to put the game out of reach. Greg Rostick had 2 doubles in the game, Donnelly and Ryan Ketter also doubled as 4 of Post 18's 7 hits were 2 baggers. Nick True (1-0) got the win for RC and pitched 6 innings of no hit ball with 12 strikeouts. C.J. Pleseants (0-1) for Post 6 also had 12 K's in the loss.
Game 2 - R.C. Dupont Post 18 - 7, Sussex West Post 6 Patriots - 1: R.C. Dupont jumped out to an early 4 run lead as Ryan Netter doubled to drive in Alex Ackley and Joe Brady who had both walked to begin the game. Dan Klusman then singled in Greg Rostick who had reached on an error then later scored.
Post 18's bats continued to be hot, with Rostick, Ketter, Dan Klusman, Joe Klusman and David Lamiet all contributing 2 baggers. Beau Owens (1-0) got a complete game win
Milford - Delvets split:
Game 1 - Milford Post 3 - 9, Delvets 7: A very close game in which Delvets battled back to take the lead in the 6th inning with hits by Annone, Deely and Bacher, making the score 6-7 Milford's Kain Johnson shut the door at the top of the 7th with 3 up and 3 down. Milford P#3 put 2 runners on with a walk and a hit by Cory Lahman and Tanner King coming to the plate he loffted a pitch by Deely over the right field fence for a walkoff win. 9-7 Milford Post #3.
Game 2 - Delvets 12, Milford Post 3 - 9: In the second game Milford jumped to a big lead with 6 runs in the bottom of the first,6-0, but as the pitching by Delvets' Sheehan and then Moser quieted the Milford bats, the comeback began. Extra base hits by Delvets' Fullerton (triple) in the second inning that scored 2 and 3/5 hitting by Carney, who was hot at the bat all day, led the charge for a solid Delvets team effort in this game. Delvets Deely closed the door in the close game #2 with a save, 12-9 win by Delvets.
Milford was able to get 2 on base in the 7th inning, what was sure to be a run scoring hit by Post 3's McKee was not to be, as Fullerton came up with a remarkable diving catch in right field to save the day for Delvets.
