2007 MEMBERSHIP MEETING, MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2006

 

Members present: Department Commander Lenny Bunch, Department First Vice Commander Don White, Department Second Vice Commander Lyman Brenner, Department Adjutant Ed Phillips, Jr., District II Commander Jim Grant, District IV Vice Commander Maurice Evans, Post 18 First Vice Commander Orin Marks, Post 19 Membership Chairman Bettylou Evans, Post 25 Commander Sam Corkadel, Post 25 First Vice Commander Ray Abbott and Post 28 Commander Lee Glasco.

 

The membership meeting was called to order by Department Second Vice Commander and First Vice Elect Lyman Brenner. He explained the following awards and proposed changes in the 2007 membership program.

 

Each Post will be assessed one more member for each 100 members and any portion over 100 you had in 2006. If you ended up with 101 members for 2006 your quota for 2007 would be 103 members. If you ended up with 30 members in 2006 your 2007 quota would be 31 members.

 

Monetary awards for new members:

 

                 05 new members $10.00

                 15 new members $30.00

                 25 new members $50.00

 

New member’s names and six-digit sequence numbers must be submitted for these awards. Only one award per member and the Post Adjutant or Membership Chairman will have to certify the award. It is not the Department Adjutant’s responsibility to submit these awards. They must come through the Post. Gold Brigade winners will receive their award from National and will not be eligible for these awards. Silver Brigade will be eligible. The cutoff date is May 02, 2007.

 

Plaques for the four categories with the highest percentage over 100% are:

                 Category   I              15-100

                 Category II             101-200

                 Category III            201-500

                 Category IV            501 & up

 

Membership trophy to the Post with the highest percentage of membership over 100%. The trophy will be the Posts to keep. The cutoff date is May 02, 2007.

 

Target Date Awards to Post Commanders and Membership Chairman. There is no 35% or 45% Target Date for 2007. The 50% Target Date is the first Target Date for 2007. You have to make the 50% Target Date by 09-06-06 to qualify for the Target Date awards and if you miss any two Target Dates after the 50% Target Date you are disqualified and will receive no Target Date awards. District Commanders and Vice Commanders will receive these awards, with the exception of the all time high award, if they make all Target Dates. The Target Date awards will be:

 

                   50%       09-06-06                 $  8.00

                   55%       10-04-06                 $10.00

                   65%       11-08-06                 $12.00

                   75%       12-06-06                 $14.00

                   80%       01-03-07                 $16.00

                   85%       02-07-07                 $18.00

                   90%       03-07-07                 $20.00

                   95%       04-04-07                 $22.00

                 100%       05-02-07                 $25.00

Posts making all Target Dates           $30.00 (cutoff date May 02, 2007)

 

                 All Time High                          $75.00 (cutoff date May 02, 2007)

 

The Target Date awards will be Wal Mart gift cards and will be awarded at the Department Convention. Any awards not received at the convention will be mailed by the Department Adjutant.

 

The Department’s top recruiter will receive an American Legion polo shirt. The cutoff date is May 02, 2007.

 

All Time High Posts will receive a plaque. Cutoff date is May 02, 2007.

 

District II Commander Jim Grant made a motion to accept the 2007 Membership Award Program as presented. Post 28 Commander Lee Glasco seconded the motion and it carried.
