Another year has come to an end.  If you have a key card be sure your Dues are paid by Dec. 31st., your card will not work on Jan. 1st.  We have a lot of new members and transfers.  Please welcome those new faces when you see them, I hope everybody had a nice Holiday.  Don't forget our meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Please try to make a meeting once in a while and see how your Legion operates.  Maybe some good idea's that

1st. Vice Commander

Happy New Year.  I hope your holidays were happy and prosperous.  Our membership stands at 87%.  If you haven't paid your dues for 2012, please do so at your earliest convenience so that we can reach our 100% goal.

We lost Howard Davis (21 years) to Post Everlasting, may he rest in peace.

Please come out and support your Post and Canteen.  Hoping to see you at our meetings, which are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at starting at 7:30 PM.

Sharon Sheriff

How are husbands like lawn mowers?
They're hard to get started, they emit noxious odors, and half the time they don't work.

Text Box: Auxiliary Membership
We now stand at 88% of our membership. Please try to get your 2012 dues in as soon as possible so you can still benefit from not having your key card deactivated. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting . Even though your bar privileges may have been stopped on Dec. 31st. 2011, you can still pay your dues for your benefits. If you have any questions, please call me.

Ladies Auxiliary

Happy New Year!! I am hoping 2012 to be a better year for everybody.  Thanks to all the ladies who helped with the Children’s Christmas Party.  A special thanks to Santa for stopping by for a visit, and to his helpers that decorated the tree, what a nice surprise.  Also, thanks to everybody that  helped with the adult Christmas Party.  Valentines Day is in February so don't forget that special someone. How wonderful it is, that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.

Text Box: Pearly Gates
Two men waiting at the Pearly Gates strike up a conversation. "How'd you die?" the first man asks the second. "I froze to death," says the second. "That's awful," says the first man. "How does it feel to freeze to death?" "It's very uncomfortable at first", says the second man. "You get the shakes, and you get pains in all your fingers and toes. But eventually, it's a very calm way to go. You get numb and you kind of drift off, as if you're sleeping. How about you, how did you die?" "I had a heart attack," says the first man. "You see, I knew my wife was cheating on me, so one day I showed up at home unexpectedly. I ran up to the bedroom, and found her alone, knitting. I ran down to the basement, but no one was hiding there, either. I ran up to the second floor, but no one was hiding there either. I ran as fast as I could to the attic, and just as I got there, I had a massive heart attack and died." The second man shakes his head. "That's so ironic," he says. "What do you mean?" asks the first man. "If you had only stopped to look in the freezer, we'd both still be alive."

Free drinks for everyone

One night, a drunk comes stumbling into a bar and says to the bartender: "Drinks for all on me including you, bartender." So the bartender follows the mans orders and says: "That will be $36.50 please." The drunk says he has no money so the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

The next night the same drunk comes in again and orders a drink for everyone in the bar including the bartender. Again the bartender follows instructions and again the drunk says he has no money. So the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

On the third night he comes in, the drunk orders drinks for all except the bartender. "What, no drink for me?" replies the bartender. "Oh, no. You get violent when you drink."

Bar Committee

Well, another Thanksgiving and Christmas season has come and gone, we on the Bar Committee hope everyone had a safe and joyous time.  Remember at our January meeting we will be electing a 3 year position on the Bar Committee.  January also brings back the horse collar tournament so if you are interested, there is a sign up sheet in the Canteen.  Our first meeting will be Jan. 12th with the season starting on Jan. 19th. and remember, knock knock will resume as well.    These dates may change pending on the completion of the board resurfacing.  Just for an FYI, Renie Jefferson was the lucky winner of the wheel barrel of Cheer.  I want to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for all their help on the Canteen Christmas Party, man what a great success, good job Debbie, Mary Frances, Susan, Bev. Delores and Lee McLain and I don’t want to forget the A-Team for there help.  If you haven’t been in the canteen during the Christmas season, it was well decorated, thanks to Becky Keim and Renie Jefferson.  Last but not least, don’t forget that special person on Feb. 14th.

Healing

An elderly couple is watching one of those television preachers on TV one night. The preacher faces the camera and announces, "My friends, I'd like to share my healing powers with everyone watching this program. Place one hand on top of your TV and the other hand on the part of your body that ails you, and I will heal you."   The old woman has been having terrible stomach problems, so she places one hand on the television and the other hand on her stomach.  Meanwhile, her husband approaches the television, placing one hand on top of the TV and the other hand on his groin.
With a frown, his wife says, "Ernest, he's talking about healing the sick, not raising the dead."
