Thanksgiving  For Thousands

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #28 recently attended a Luncheon for the National Auxiliary President at Baywood Country Club in Longneck.  The Luncheon was hosted by Delaware State Auxiliary President Helen Skelton who is also a Past President and member of Auxiliary Unit #28. President Stoy asked that the Auxiliary continue their good work for our veterans and asked that everyone take on her goal of caring for our veterans during her tenure.  Mrs. Stoy also outlined several of her main projects for the year which included the Auxiliary Emergency Fund which benefits members when they experience financial hardship.  More than 35 women from local Auxiliaries and the State Officers attended.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #28 and its Legion Family partnered with Mountaire Farms and the Dagsboro House of God in their recent Thanksgiving for Thousands providing 1300 food baskets for needy families.  More than a hundred volunteers from the Post, Mountaire Farms and the Shorebirds baseball team packed the boxes in record time as Johnny Fann provided entertainment inside and Kemosabi Joe of the Wave interviewed in the parking lot.  Chairperson Cindy Phillips kept everyone in high spirits and did an outstanding job getting the much needed staples from our other partners in the community such as Giant Foods of Longneck.  Post Commander Jim Lafferty remarked that he was overwhelmed with the support and that this would continue as a post project in the future.
