The Big Game...
R.C. Dupont Post 18 - 6, Delvets - 4: R.C. Wins the North even though there was some heavy weather in the area.
De Post 1 had a few loose ends to tie up also:
Fox Post 2 11, DE Post 1 - 5: In a continuation of game called by Lightning earlier in year.
VFW 3420 - 15, DE Post 1 - 12: VFW scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th to win this back and forth
game. Jamie Watson was 4 for 5 with 3 rbi's and Chris Bianchino was 3
for 5 with a RBI and scored twice.
Joe Tunell and Matt Francisco hit
home runs for Post 1. Joe Tunell was 2 for 3 with 2 rbi's, and DJ
Miller was 3 for 5 for Post 1.
VFW 3420 - 9, DE Post 1 - 7: Kevin Green got the final out on a strikeout to seal the victory
pitching a complete game with 3 strikeouts. Jeremy Jones was 2 for 3
with a homerun and 3 rbi's, Billy Sartin was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi's, and
Brian Rowe hit a homerun for VFW.
Brandon Christ and Joe Tunell hit homeruns for Post 1, and Alex Riley was 2 for 4, Rob Jones was 2 for 3,
and Rob Nickison was 2 for 2. Andrew Cini pitched a complete game for
Post 1 striking out 6.
Saturday's Games
Central Divsion Marathon:
at Middletown -
Middletown Post 25 - 10, VFW 3420 - 0 (5) : Middletown
clinched the Central divsion title with a big win over Atterbury Post
after they put up 10 unanswered runs early. Ryan Haas had the one
hitter for Post 25. Elliot Gardner hit a 2 run home run, adding to Eric
Buckland's 4 RBIs. Ryan Noonan had the VFW's lone hit. The win
forced Post 10 to win all three games today.
at Wilson Field
Post 10 Newark - 8, Stahl Post 30 - 3: Post 10 stayed a
game behind Middletown in the Central Race with a big win over Stahl.
Jordan Oncay had two home runs, a double and 5 RBI's for Newark. Game
DeAscansis homered for Stahl during the game.
at St Mark's HS -
Game 1: VFW 3420 - 23, Post 10 Newark 20: The VFW prevailed in the "football game" holding on to win 23-20.
Game 2: Post 10 Newark - 2, VFW 3420 - 1: Atterbury
Post 3420 drops a close game to Post 10 in a game that had implications
in the final point totals. In a game that only featured 5 hits from
each team , Newark out scored VFW
with an unearned run in the top of the seventh. Jordan Oncay struck out
the side in the bottom of the seventh for the save.
Meanwhile in the rest of the League....
At Stanton Middle School:
Game 1: Durney Post 27 - 8, Post 6 Patriots - 7: Durney jumped out to an early 3-0 lead it never lost as the Post 6 bats awoke late.
Game 2: Post 6 Patriots 16. Durney Post 27 - 15: Durney
came back from a 7 run deficit to tie the Patriots in the 7th, but
Spencer Coulbourne singled home Korey Hearn (after a triple to the
fence in center that would have been out at the Pat's home field) to
secure the winning run. Tyler Ruark got the win in relief of Hearn, and
Hunter Absher.
at Brandywine HS:
Game 1: R.C. DuPont Post 18 - 4, Fox Post 2 - 2:
Game 2: Fox Post 2 - 12, R.C. DuPont Post 18 - 7:
at Delaware Tech:
Game 1: Post 28 Warriors - 10, Delvets - 9: Tieing run on 3rd when the game ended....
Game 2: Post 28 Warriors - 15, Delvets - 11: With the loss, Delvets has to beat R.C. DuPont Sunday, or fall to the #8 seed.
Milford Post 3 forfeited 2 games to Delaware Post 1
